ONE HOT SUMMER, FIRST LOVE AND SO MANY BURIED SECRETS . ..

Senara has never been in love before. She's not done anything exciting before.

Always the sidekick . . . Until the summer that changes everything. Cliff House is closed off for most of the year until its rich Londoner owners come down to Cornwall for the summer. This year, despite herself, Senara finds herself pulled into this world of wealth and ease, sunbathing and beautiful people.

She even finds herself falling in love for the first time. But Cliff House and its owners are hiding things. They've been hiding things for too long and now, despite all their efforts, their secrets are coming out. Secrets that involve Senara's friends and her family in a way she could never have imagined.

ABOUT BRISTOL TEEN BOOK AWARDS

The Bristol Teen Book Award is an annual award that celebrates and highlights excellent literature for teens. It's run by The School Library Association West of England Branch.

When the Award was started it had a clear focus on diversity, and since then has consistently recognised a diverse range of voices and styles, and has featured books that present individual perspectives and experiences, including those that are often unheard or forgotten.

The books on the BTBA shortlist are nominated in an open submission process by Bristol students, librarians, and teachers. The nominations are then shortlisted by the BTBA working group, based on the adherence to the Award Criteria, and with specific consideration for individual merit, general appeal, experiences presented, readability, format, innovation, and cohesion as a six-book list. Current Award Criteria stipulates that books must have been published between January 2022 and June 2023, be written by an author based in the UK or Ireland, and be suitable for a teen audience.
